About Point Loma Seafoods

Located at 2805 Emerson St, San Diego, CA 92106, Point Loma Seafoods operates as a seafood market serving San Diego in California. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it. Google also lists it under restaurant, which is worth knowing if you are comparing several options in the area.

Store size varies enormously, from a small corner grocery with a few aisles to a full supermarket chain location in San Diego with a bakery, seafood counter and food court under one roof. Sales and promotions are often posted in-store or in a weekly flyer rather than online, so prices listed on a website may be out of date. Seafood markets sell live and on-ice product and can usually clean or prepare fish on request for a small fee. Specialty food stores in California may focus narrowly on one category, like a butcher, a rice and dry goods shop, or an import store, so calling ahead to confirm stock for a specific item saves a wasted trip.

The business lists hours on 7 days of the week. The most common schedule is 10 am–7 pm. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. The listed phone number is (619) 223-1109. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. More information is available on its website, pointlomaseafoods.com.

On Google it holds a rating of 4.5 out of 5 from 6,291 reviews, which is a strong result for a seafood market in San Diego and suggests consistent service.

San Diego is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. Getting around San Diego is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across California's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Fresh fish, fast service, good prices and large portions. Inside and outside seating. They also have fresh and smoked fish for sale. We had the combination...crab cake, shrimp and fish and chips. Also had the clam chowder. We visit Point Loma Seafood whenever we visit San Diego. Highly recommended by me!

I really wanted to like this place as an avid seafood lover and have been meaning to try this place. We ordered a fried combo platter that had two cod, two shrimp, and a crab cake. For a place known for fresh seafood, I was shocked at bad the cod was. The cod pieces were so tiny, dry and definitely not fresh- the worst part of the meal. The shrimp and crab cake were decent. The crab cake seemed more like refried wholesaler crab cake and not made fresh. Not worth the price. We also ordered a calamari/squid sandwich. It was cold bread (not even toasted), tar tar sauce slathered, and then the squid. The squid was actually nice and tender but the breading was so uneven and had such small hard bits. Even though they sell fresh seafood at the counter, it doesn’t seem that they actually use fresh fish in their hot food menu.

Beautiful view! Good selection of food choices. New experience. You just order under a big menu [or point to item in tanks or under glass ] and then sit down until they call #. Easy.

I hadn’t been to Point Loma Seafood for many years. Now that I’m here, so disappointed with the food. It indeed was the best seafood & chowder in San Diego. The restaurant looks the same, has very friendly people working there and still has large crowds. Personally for me, they need new cooks. My chowder was runny and had limited taste. The celery was uncooked, potatoes unseasoned. No creamy thickness at all. Clams were not cleaned well as I had many crunchy pieces of something. I also ordered the crab cake sandwich. You can see by the picture that’s not what I was given. 4 crab cakes, 2 which were almost burnt, French fries lukewarm, coleslaw with no seasoning and I couldn’t figure out the dressing. Ate the 2 that weren’t nearly burned. They weren’t bad except less than 1/2” thick and too chopped. No chunky pieces of crab. The tartar sauce was the only bright star. The majority of my $25 meal ended up in the trash. Not going back. Maybe I’ll give it another 12 years, but not likely. As I said, really disappointed.

Point Loma Seafoods is hands down my favorite seafood restaurant in San Diego! Every time I travel to San Diego, meeting up here with family and friends is an absolute must. It’s become our tradition and something we all look forward to. The food is always fresh and delicious. The salmon tacos are incredible β€” perfectly seasoned and so fresh β€” and the clam chowder is some of the best I’ve ever had. The fish and chips are also a standout, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Beyond the amazing food, the atmosphere is unbeatable. The upper patio offers beautiful views of the bay, making it the perfect spot to relax, enjoy great conversation, and soak in that classic San Diego waterfront vibe. Between the fresh seafood, laid-back atmosphere, and gorgeous views, Point Loma Seafoods never disappoints. Highly recommend!
